112-card deck with Wild Shuffle Hands (2019 rules) · Checked against the rulebook, Oct 2026

In short

Match the top card of the discard pile by color, number or symbol, and be the first to empty your hand. Action cards skip, reverse and make players draw. Say "UNO" when you're down to one card. Win the round to score your opponents' cards; first to 500 points wins.

Setup

  1. 1Everyone draws a card, and the highest number deals. Action and Wild cards count as 0.
  2. 2The dealer shuffles and deals 7 cards to each player.
  3. 3The rest of the deck goes face down as the draw pile.
  4. 4Turn over the top card to start the discard pile. If it's an action card: Draw Two, the first player draws 2 and misses the turn; Skip, the first player is skipped; Reverse, the dealer goes first and play runs to the right; Wild, Wild Shuffle Hands or customizable card, the player to the dealer's left picks the color; Wild Draw 4, put it back and turn over another card.
  5. 5The player to the dealer's left goes first, unless the starting card says otherwise.

How a turn works

Match

Play a card that matches the top of the discard pile by color, number or symbol, or a Wild (a Wild Draw 4 only if you hold nothing in the current color).

Or draw

Can't play, or choose not to? Draw 1 card. You may play that card right away if it fits; otherwise your turn ends.

Say UNO

When you play your second-to-last card, call "UNO". If someone catches you before the next player starts, draw 2.
