Who gets the longest route bonus in a tie in Ticket to Ride?

All tiedShort answer

Everyone tied for the longest continuous path scores the 10 bonus points. Only an unbroken line of your own trains counts, and no train can be counted twice.

The rule:

In Ticket to Ride, if players tie for the longest route bonus (officially the longest path bonus), every tied player scores the 10 points. Only an unbroken line of your own trains counts, and no train can be counted twice.

At the end of the game, the player with the longest continuous path of their own trains scores 10 points.

  • Ties: every tied player scores the 10 points.
  • What counts: a continuous line of trains in your color. It can loop and pass through the same city more than once.
  • No double counting: a single train can’t be counted twice in the same path.

The bonus card also matters for the tiebreaker if players are tied on points.

Example:

Ana and Ben both have a continuous path of 18 trains, and nobody has longer. Both score 10 points.

Why players argue about it:

There's only one bonus card, so players assume only one person can score it. The rule gives the points to every tied player.
