When does Ticket to Ride end?
When a player ends their turn with 2 or fewer trains left, every player, including that player, gets one final turn. Then the game ends and final scoring begins.
The rule:
The game ends after one final round: as soon as a player finishes a turn with 0, 1 or 2 trains left, every player, including that player, takes one last turn.
It doesn’t end the moment someone reaches 2 trains, and the player who triggered it isn’t skipped. Once everyone has had their final turn, the game is over.
Final scoring happens in this order:
- Double-check route points scored during the game.
- Reveal tickets: add completed ones, subtract incomplete ones.
- Award the longest path bonus (10 points).
Example:
Ana claims a route and ends her turn with 2 trains left. Ben, Kai and Mia each take one more turn, then Ana takes her last turn too. Then everyone scores their tickets.
Why players argue about it:
Groups argue about whether the triggering player gets a last turn (they do) and whether the game ends the moment someone hits 2 trains (it doesn't).
