Who wins a tie in Wingspan?
Most foodShort answer
The tied player with the most unused food tokens wins. If they're still tied, they share the victory.
The rule:
In Wingspan, a tie for the win goes to the tied player with the most unused food tokens, and if they’re still tied, they share the victory.
The game ends after round 4. Add up:
- points on each bird on your mat
- bonus cards
- end-of-round goals
- 1 point per egg, per food cached on a bird and per card tucked under a bird
Ties: the player with the most unused food tokens wins. If still tied, they share the victory.
Example:
Mia and Kai both finish with 87 points. Mia has 3 food tokens left next to her mat and Kai has 1, so Mia wins.
Why players argue about it:
Players count cached food on birds as part of the tiebreaker. The rulebook says "unused food tokens"; cached food has already been used and scores as points, so we read it as only the food in your supply.
