When does Splendor end?

Round endsShort answer

When a player has 15 or more Prestige points at the end of their turn, the end is triggered. Play continues until everyone has had the same number of turns, so the player to the right of the first player takes the last turn. Then most points wins.

The rule:

Splendor’s end is triggered when a player finishes their turn with 15 or more Prestige points, but play continues until everyone has had the same number of turns, ending with the player to the right of the first player. Then most points wins.

  1. Trigger: a player ends their turn with 15 or more Prestige points. The noble check also happens at the end of your turn, so groups normally count a noble taken that turn.
  2. Finish the round: keep playing until everyone has had the same number of turns.
  3. Last turn: the player to the right of the player with the First Player marker.
  4. Score: add up Prestige points from Development cards and Noble tiles. Most points wins.

Your score has to be visible to everyone throughout the game.

Example:

Ana, the third of four players, ends her turn with 16 points. The fourth player still takes a turn, because they sit to the first player's right. Then the game ends and scores are compared.

Why players argue about it:

Some groups stop the instant someone hits 15. The round is finished instead, so later players in the round get a last chance to pass them. If the last player in the round triggers it, the game ends right away.
